1. Introduction

Welcome to infoMoris ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website at infomoris.com and our Android application (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. If you create an account we collect your email address, display name, and profile picture via Google Sign-In or email/password registration (powered by Firebase Authentication).

User-generated content. Comments, reactions, and any content you submit are stored on our servers and associated with your account.

Usage & diagnostics data. We collect pseudonymised analytics — such as page views, referral sources, device and browser information, approximate location derived from your IP address, and performance and error diagnostics (for example, how long an interaction takes, or when a script error occurs) — to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. This is collected using Google Analytics (see Sections 4 and 5). It relies on randomly generated identifiers (such as cookies) and is not linked to your name; however, it is not fully anonymous, as you may be distinguished across sessions.

Crash & diagnostic data (Android app). In our Android application we collect crash reports and diagnostic information — such as stack traces and exception details, the app version, device model, operating-system version, memory/storage state, session identifiers and timestamps, and randomly generated installation identifiers (a Firebase installation ID and a Crashlytics installation UUID) — via Firebase Crashlytics, so we can detect and fix stability problems. We do not attach your name, email, or account identifiers to this data. Crashlytics data is retained by Google for approximately 90 days.

Local storage. We use your browser's local storage (IndexedDB / localStorage) to cache articles, preferences (language, font size, theme), and session tokens. This data stays on your device.

Advertising data. When advertising is enabled on the Service, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process information such as cookies, your device's advertising identifier (for example, the Android Advertising ID), IP address, and general usage and interaction data. This is described further in Section 4 (Cookies & Tracking Technologies) and Section 6 (Advertising).

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
To display personalised content and preferences.
To display advertising that helps keep the Service free (see Section 6).
To communicate with you (e.g. account verification emails).
To enforce our Terms & Conditions and prevent abuse.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

The Service uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

Advertising — When advertising is enabled, we display ads provided by Google. Google and its partners use cookies and device identifiers to serve and measure ads and, where permitted, to personalise the ads you see based on your prior visits to this and other websites and apps. See Advertising (Section 6) for full details and your opt-out choices.
Cloudflare Turnstile — a privacy-friendly CAPTCHA alternative used to protect forms from automated abuse. Turnstile may set functional cookies required for bot detection.
Firebase Authentication tokens — stored in local storage to keep you signed in.
Cloudflare performance & security cookies — set automatically by our CDN to protect the Service from malicious traffic.
Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to measure usage (such as page views, sessions, and performance). It sets first-party cookies (for example _ga and _ga_<id>) and uses a client identifier to distinguish visitors and sessions, and processes device/browser information and approximate location derived from your IP address. This is pseudonymous data, not anonymous. On infomoris.com the Google tag is served from our own domain (first-party) via Cloudflare's Google tag gateway; this only changes how the tag is delivered — Google Analytics still processes this data as our provider. You can opt out using Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and, where required by law, analytics cookies are governed by the consent controls described in Section 6.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party providers, each with their own privacy policies:

Google Firebase — authentication and user management (Firebase Authentication), and crash & diagnostics reporting in the Android app (Firebase Crashlytics).
Google Analytics — pseudonymous usage, performance, and error measurement to help us improve the Service.
Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, security, and Turnstile CAPTCHA, and first-party serving of the Google Analytics tag (Google tag gateway). Cloudflare processes your IP address and request metadata (such as user agent and requested URLs) to deliver and protect the Service.
Google AdSense & Google AdMob — advertising services used to display ads on our website and in our Android app. See Advertising (Section 6).

International data transfers. Our third-party providers (including Google and Cloudflare) may process and store data on servers outside Mauritius, including in the United States and the European Union. Where personal or pseudonymous data is transferred internationally, these providers apply recognised safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent data-protection frameworks).

6. Advertising

infoMoris is supported by advertising. When advertising is enabled on the Service, we use Google AdSense to serve ads on our website (infomoris.com) and Google AdMob to serve ads in our Android application.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Service and/or other websites and apps.
Google's use of advertising cookies and identifiers enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our Service and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google My Ad Center. On Android, you can also reset or delete your Advertising ID under Settings → Privacy / Google → Ads.
You may opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices, or at youronlinechoices.eu if you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we will present a consent message through a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) before any personalised ads are served, in accordance with applicable data-protection laws. The consent message identifies the ad technology providers that may process your data; you can also review Google's list of ad technology providers. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the consent settings in the app or on the website.
We do not knowingly serve personalised advertising to users under the age of 13 (see Children's Privacy).

7. Content Disclaimer

infoMoris curates and displays headlines, short excerpts, and links to articles published by Mauritian media outlets via their publicly available RSS feeds; full articles remain on, and are the property of, the original publishers, whose websites we link to for the complete story. We are not the original publisher of this content and do not independently verify it. All copyrights belong to their respective owners. If you believe any content infringes your rights, please use the Contact Us form and we will promptly address it.

External links within articles may lead to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

Cached articles on your device are retained according to your chosen preference and can be cleared at any time from Settings. Server-side account data (profile, comments, reactions) is retained until you delete your account.

You may delete your account from the Settings menu, which permanently removes all associated data from our servers.

Pseudonymous analytics data collected via Google Analytics is retained for up to 14 months and is then deleted by Google. Crash and diagnostic data collected via Firebase Crashlytics is retained for approximately 90 days.

9. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, Cloudflare WAF protection, Firebase JWT-based authentication, and server-side input validation. However, no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from, or serve personalised advertising to, children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
